Default Avatar of Dwayna build

Lately I've been trying to explore around to think up an effective build to run around with using Avatar of Dwayna. I'm more of a PvE-oriented player, and though I know that you barely need anything at all to succeed in PvE, I still feel like overdoing things.

So what I have right now looks like this:

[skill]zealous sweep[/skill][skill]mystic sweep[/skill][skill]eremite's attack[/skill][skill]heart of fury[/skill][skill]mystic regeneration[/skill][skill]avatar of dwayna[/skill][skill]eternal aura[/skill][skill]rebirth[/skill]

Rebirth is my general hard res, and the only reason I go /Mo for the time being. Also, I really don't know why I bring Zealous Sweep other than because it's a free slot that can provide me with free energy.

One idea I had was bringing Mending Touch to prevent me from having trouble with conditions as well, and then by using Mending Touch while using the Avatar, I could eliminate two conditions and one hex in one go.

I was also considering bringing Victorious Sweep, but then again, with the Avatar's effects giving me health quite often, it starts to feel redundant. I also considered Chilling Victory, but I hate the 10 energy requirement.

Does anyone have any good ideas as to what I should do or whatnot?

The build I use on my dervish has great survivability and ok damage.
He is also a survivor and still going.

[skill]avatar of dwayna[/skill][skill]Victorious Sweep[/skill][skill]Mystic Sweep[/skill][skill]Mending Touch[/skill][skill]Shield of Absorption[/skill][skill]eternal aura[/skill][skill]extend enchantements[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill]

I also use Dwayna's Grace to get +20% enchant.
Also I use 15 mysticism so that Extend Enchantments and SoA become free spells.

...you need an IAS. Read that as many times as necessary for it to sink in. :]

IAS will buff the utility of a Dervish like nothing else can, simply because hitting 33% faster is a big deal for a Dervish.

With that in mind, the OP's build is probably the better one here, but if I had to recommend anything, it's not to bother too much with mystic regen - it requires another attribute (granted you're probably not putting much into it), and on an Avatar of Dwayna character, you're probably getting all the self-healing you need from attack skills anyway. You generally don't need to be an awesome tank for PvE; dealing out good damage is the primary concern for a Dervish, and AoD is a nice way of doing that while buffing survivability a bit.

My recommendation, then, would be to replace that with Aura of Holy Might if you have it. Ideally you should run it with an enchanting scythe so it is up as much of the time as possible (24 seconds per cast, recharge is 25). If you don't, then Mending Touch is a nice skill to handle conditions, yeah.

But in general you're on the right track with your build IMO. Sometimes people will go D/W to bring Wild Blow (stance removal) or Distracting Blow (interrupt), but you are by no means obliged to. Zealous Sweep is probably useful to keep your energy levels good with two 10e enchantments there anyway (not counting eternal aura).

Dwayna is enough self heal - heal yourself whilst attacking.

Drop mystic regen and earth spec, take something like wild blow in it's place (or any utility skill). Lose rebirth for a res sig / sunspear sig.

the point of using dwanya is to specc into only 2 attributes while still maintaining damage and an effective self heal. if you are using earth prayers, why the hell are you using dwanya?

QFT!

You take Dwayna and a bunch of 5 energy attack skills with Mending Touch and possibly Pious Haste. Make sure you use a zealous scythe. And just because Victorious Sweep seems redundant on AoD builds it is actually pretty good 120+health and added damage so it is a win-win. Keep Eremite's and Mystic. Personally I wouldn't use rebirth, Res Sig is ftw....

I prefer to spec two attributes with any normal Dervish build, to be honest.

then you dont get a (good) heal, which is acceptable in a lyssa build that hits for 100+ per swing, but dwanya is an amazing heal requiring no other attributes.

For PVE If you run a mysticism build with reoccurring burning and are good at grabbing agro you will be pretty effective. [skill]Heart of holy flame[/skill] is nice as well

For PVP I ran this crazy build last night RA. They tried and tried to kill me but for some reason I just wore them down and picked them off one by one. Not the best for damage but at least it did not have mystic regeneration on it

[skill]victorious sweep[/skill] [skill]avatar of dwayna[/skill] [skill]Mystic Vigor[/skill] [skill]Heart of fury[/skill] [skill]Balthazar's Rage[/skill] [skill]shadow refuge[/skill] [skill]Death's Charge[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

PS it is not a great build but you heal with everything

I agree with the above posters about all the earth prayers and dwayna. I would throw more 5 energy attacks, and RoF. ROF is sickly sick with dwayna and 15 mysticism.

I would normally find that hard to believe, except you were talking about RA. But then, RA is the real deal to confirm your builds work, right?

......

You're dam right it's not a great build. There is only 2 skills on the bar that don't heal you, and one is a bloody res!! Listen to people when they say: Dwayna is enough self heal.

Not to mention Balthazar's Rage is one of the worst skills i've ever seen (or - haven't seen, not even scrubs use it).

It was a joke build I ran, and never said it was great. I put together every heal spell I had available and for some odd reason it worked. Thats the fun part about RA. Side note - Shadow stepping portion was great fun.

If you are good at grabbing agro Heart of holy flame is not that horrid it serves a purpose of more pips on healing with mystic healing and also works well as a cover enchantment to rip off yourself if you need to it also has an AOE and when it expires burns for 4 seconds.

Edit - When I run a cover enchantment What I mean is I ripp it off myself with my own skills for example like Twin Moon Sweep.

There's the difference between us. You take any useless enchant and see it as "3 more regen pips". I take useful enchants and if using mystic regen, see it as "3 more regen pips + a nice effect that justifies it's skill slot".

Personally, I don't run put any enchantments on my bar to cover others. If I take one its cause it has a use. Anyway, back to AoD...when using that paticular avatar you should never put on any type of healing skills since that's what the avatar is for. You should just load your bar up with useful attack skills. Every time you use one your going to be healing yourself so there is no need for any extra healing...otherwise you're defeating the purpose of using that avatar in the first place.

...pretty much - in PvE I don't care about self-heals considering I have monks to handle that most of the time. I'm usually running Victorious Sweep for the damage, that said, which can self-heal for a reasonable amount in some situations... doesn't replace monks though.

I don't think I'd take Avatar of Dwayna entirely for the self-heal, that said; I'd take it when the hex removal makes a difference (e.g. a Talus Chute vanquish I took part in not so long ago).

[skill]avatar of dwayna[/skill] is fine in both PvE and PvP
for PvE bring [skill]aura of holy might[/skill] and [skill]eternal aura[/skill] along with 2 attack skills [skill]victorious sweep[/skill][skill]mystic sweep[/skill][skill]eremite's attack[/skill] 2 of those 3 are probably the best
never leave home without this: [skill]heart of fury[/skill]
and of course a res: [skill]death pact signet[/skill] is the best res available, and since you're not using secondary at all go /rit for it...

for PvP you cant have the PvE only enchantments so you can bring other things.
another attack skill, the 3rd from the list or [skill]wild blow[/skill] or [skill]distracting blow[/skill]
and some utility.
if you didnt go /W for 1 of the above skills consider going /Mo for [skill]mending touch[/skill]
than the res of choice, if you didnt go /W nor /Mo go /Rit for [skill]death pact signet[/skill]
if not just use [skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
